What to Do After a Car Accident at Work

If you've just been in a car accident while working, follow these steps to protect your health AND your legal rights:

At the Scene

1. Call 911 - Get police and medical help, even if you think you're okay
2. Document everything - Photos of vehicles, road conditions, injuries, license plates
3. Get witness information - Names and phone numbers of anyone who saw the crash
4. Don't admit fault - Be polite but don't apologize or accept blame
5. Get the police report number

Within 24 Hours

1. Report to your employer - Tell them about the accident in writing
2. Seek medical attention - Even if you feel fine, get checked out
3. Save all documents - Medical records, receipts, correspondence

Within the First Week

1. Call a lawyer - Before giving recorded statements to any insurance company
